Do you really believe the other side without provocation would launch so many ICBM's, subs and ships knowing that we would have no option to launch as well? It would break our MAD Treaty (Mutually Assured Destruction) not to mention the end of the world as we know it.

Very sad news. His Film 'XX on BBC1 was required viewing when I was growing up in the 70s. I also remember fondly his series The Hollywood Greats, shown on Saturday nights in the late 70s. RIP Barry Norman.

              Re: Barry Norman

I can't really admitt to knowing a lot about Barry Norman as I was not into Film Review in Barry's era - but one thiong I am utterly certain of was Barry set the trend for hosts on similar shows nd without Barry being such a host - the likes of Clive Anderson would never ever of appeared on screen.

To me as more of a Film Addict than I was - this is what I will always be grateful to Barry for as, as well I don't mind admitting Clive Anderson really brought the Film Scene to more of a core for me through Barry's sterling work
