Ray wilkins has sadly passed away today after a Cardiac Arrest

Ray had quite an illustrious career at host of top Clubs in his hey-day and in my opinion easily belonged t6o a "great generation" of the 1980s

Must say this comes as a shock.

Played for man utd and chelsea but it was chelsea that was his main club having worked there up to quite recently.

ALSO PLAYED FOR RANGERS AC MILAN PARIS ST GERMAIN.

Very sad news to lose Ray at such an early age. A fine footballer and by all accounts a gentleman and thoroughly nice chap. RIP Ray Wilkins.

Never a true-er word said here Darren mate, Ray was a gent of a man indeed., yes Though ray had his demons - like we all do, he was as honest as the day is long and I guess that is why management (in I think it was QPR) in a brief reign never suited Ray and it was Ray's only real managerial spell as an actual Number 1, but yes though it is true to say without question that Ray belonged to that "Golden Generation" of the mid 70s to mid late 80s where with a bit of luck Sir Bobby Robson in his 8 year spell as England boss could really have got England our 2nd World Cup win - at least in 1986 and including 1990 in-particular

Very sad, this. Almost single-handedly got my team out of the old Second Division.

Seems to have escaped the media for some reason but Ray Wilkins was made captain of Chelsea at the age of just 18 years old !!!

Um, I remember that clearly and I've seen it in quite a few media obits...
