Re: RIP Ric Ocasek (1949-2019)
I am not too familiar with Ocasek but I am familiar with songs like Drive that the Cars did - I suppose that we get so used to hearing them on the radio that sometimes we almost forget about the names of the people who happen to be involved with making those songs. This happens with quite a lot of songs to be honest. The radio presenter on the station that I am listening to at the moment has made a brief reference to his death just now.
Looking at Zabadak's picture, I thought that they were just called "Cars" rather than "The Cars".I've everything I need to keep me satisfied
There's nothing you can do to make me change my mind

Anyway, I loved their earlier music, especially the first album. I heard their first two UK singles on John Peel's show, of all places!

Re: RIP Ric Ocasek (1949-2019)
I was a Cars fan and really liked Ric's solo work, which was brilliant melodic rock, with a superb vocal delivery. They were at their peak in the late seventies through the eighties, yet always (for me) sat outside mainstream pop. Like the brilliant Eddie Money, I will be revisiting this man discography.
