One of the Coronation Street characters from Episode 1 in 1960, who stayed for 8 Years until 1968 then made a comeback in 2011 and got wed to Rita despite cheating on her with Gloria (played by Michelle Collins) has passed away aged 88 yesterday (Fri)

If you watch the very first episode from 1960, around 2:50 in at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00H0ycLk52I, you will find that Dennis Tanner was the first man to be seen in Coronation Street. His first line was: "where's what?"

There are now just only three living former cast members who are still with us: William Roache (obviously); Alan Rothwell (who played Roache's screen brother David, although the actor is still with us, his character isn't as he died in 1970); and Anne Cunningham - two men and one woman.
