I remember taking little sachets of milkshake to add to the milk. The summer warm milk didn't taste as bad then.

I do recall sachets.
At primary school we were given a small bottle of milk at break time. You punched a straw through the aluminium cover. Then in my final few years at Primary the bottles were replaced with small cartons. Later, we would take the cartons out in the playground and make a sudden stamp with the foot, which caused a loud bang. Couple of kids even got caned for this.
