      Mr Mainwaring History - Fairy

I also had an English teacher called Pansy and a humanities teacher called Dilly, god knows why.

        Re: Teachers nicknames

A couple of teachers nicknames here:-
Porky (sometimes Porky Powell) Mr Powell, history and archaeology teacher, because of his size.
Rabbi Roberts. Mr Roberts, RE teacher.
Big Lew. Mr Lewis, science teacher, he was big.
Mad Evans. Mr Evans, science and maths teacher.
Doc. Mr Edwards, doctor of science. Brilliant teacher, one hell of a temper when he got going. He had a very short, and sometimes non-existent fuse.
Who cared about rules when you were young?

Do you really believe the other side without provocation would launch so many ICBM's, subs and ships knowing that we would have no option to launch as well? It would break our MAD Treaty (Mutually Assured Destruction) not to mention the end of the world as we know it.

                  Re: Teachers nicknames

We had a supply teacher, and as he was only visiting for a few days, we hardly knew his name. So as he was a Frank Spencer lookalike, you can guess what some of them called him. I even thought that his name was Mr Spencer because of that.

There was one who was nicknamed Bob after Bob Holness.

                      Re: Teachers nicknames

I had an English teacher in 1978. He has longish ginger hair and a ginger beard. It seemed reasonable to call him Catweasel.

                        Re: Teachers nicknames

We also had a good guess as to what first names some teachers would have had, and if they had the same surname as someone famous, we would sometimes refer to them by that namesake first name if you know what I mean.

One history teacher at my school was nicknamed Dorian due to her resemblance to Lesley Joseph.
