I remember a kookaburra song that went :-

Who stole the kooka from the kookaburra tree?
Number one stole the kooka from the kookaburra tree
    ,
    Who me?
    Yes you,
    Couldn't have been,
    Yes it could.

I think we sang this in a circle and eliminated someone every verse, number one, two etc.

Vaguely remember a blackbird song, but can't really remember any of the words, but don't think it was that one. There must be loads more songs that I've forgotton about.

For some reason I remember singing London's Burning in secondary school assembly for about 10 minutes for no good reason.

Its just gone black over Bill's Mothers and a little song we sang in a round at school just pooped into my head.

I hear thunder (sang twice) Hark, dont you? (x2) pitter patter rain drops (x2) I am wet through,so are you!

Just thought I'd share that with you all. LOL

seems I either sang the wrong words at school or they were changed slightly

I'd completely forgotten the other verses until I found this^

It wasn't the song I was thinking of, Kaz, but I do remember Donkey Riding. Working in a school, these old songs come up occasionally - I sometimes even suggest we learn some of the old songs I sang at my 70s primary!

When I was in the sixth form at secondary school we sang the hymn "Clap your hands all ye people" in a round. The version we sang went like this:

Clap your hands all ye people
Sing to the Lord with a voice of triumph
Clap your hands all ye people,
Sing to the Lord with a voice of praise.

    Hosanna, hosanna,
Sing to the Lord with a voice of triumph
    Praise Him praise Him,
Sing to the Lord with a voice of praise.

I also loved the songs in a round but I can't think of any more than you mention. Did the donkey one go something like...

'Clip clop, clip clop, clip clip clop,
Get up old Dobin we're going to town
See those wheels go round and around
    As the sun goes down'

..........from memory.......of about 38 years ago!

    Songs In A Round

Another post reminded me of all the songs we used to sing in a 'round' in music lessons.
    I really loved doing this.
    I can recall :-
    Londons Burning.
    Row, Row, Row Your Boat.
    Frere Jacques.
    Three Blind Mice.
    Anymore?

We also sang some great old songs like:-
    Marianina.
    Michael Finnegan.
What Shall We Do With A Drunken Sailor.
One about a donkey? What was that?

Working...
