  • That End of Football season time - AGAIN

I don't know (of corse) how the end of this Season will pen out - but I have seen so many "Class Endings" through t5he years, I thought I'd make a thread about the various last da's people can recall.

I have hazy memories of NewcasTle's complete collapse of being 12 points in front withy Kevin Keegan's "I'd just love it" rant in 1996 (or rather 1995/96) Season's Ending. I can recall exactly here I was (at a Friend's House) that Afternoon and of course according to the Papers if they won and Man U lost - they could just redeem the loosingt of them 12 points - even thought it was a mega ask! This in May 96 was just before one of England's Finest Hours imho with one of our best Managers at that time since Sir Alf Ramsey when we ripped apArt Holland 4-1 in Euro 96 to reach the Semis .... amazing

Other last days I can recall (was D1 or Ex Division 2 (The Championship in todays currency since the mid 2000s) when in 199 Bradford City beat all the odds to reach the Prem - which I hazily recall following on Teletext/Ceefax - with this being one of the first times I have saw "Live Tables" up-dated every few mins - saying who would be Promoted if the Season ended just then as is the norm these days. Watching this and not really taking it all in but knowig that such statistics could be implemented live to Telly - way before the 'net normalized it was an amazing experience - that in time or over time, you only just begin 10 or 20 years later waht a "crest of a wave" in terms of Technology we was starting out upon

Bradford staying up in the Prem in 199/200 was even more of an experience I never ever imagined they would manage. I think I have put it elsewhere on here but them staying up at Wimbledon's expense was such a life event. I vividly recall reading a Newspaper while walking down a Street about Joe Kinnear no longer being in charge and them getting the un-known Egil Olsen in and them sinking like a stone, but we all thought it was just scare -mongering as the Press does. Never in 1000 did I thin Wimbledon would be Relegated after 12 years in the Top-Flight as they just seemed a mainstay.
