I'm trying to find a particular model of video machine that we used to have in the house.

Description : It was definitely a JVC. Silver colour. We had it from 1984 onwards. I can't remember if it was a toploader or frontloader, but I tend to think it was front.

The thing that was unusial about it was the buttons. They were big an colourful and different shapes. ie the 'stop' button was a square, the 'record' button was a circle and the 'play' button a triangle etc.

Wow! That's it. Thanks very much.

It's a special item in my mind now not only because it had a pretty cool unique look, but also because it was the first machine we ever really watched videos on. So it was like the entry point to a whole new world!!

For double retro value you can actually see the machine in the background of this clip from the tv show "No. 73"

It also made an appearance in 'Lethal Weapon'. I'm not obsessed with VCR's, it's just that this particular model stands out a mile away.

i never remember a wooden sided vcr.

must have been mid eighties by the time we got our first one.

wow 99p on ebay its gone down in price.
it prob cost your parents a few hundred at the time.
ill have to try and look that make up.

The JVC HR-3300 had the wooden sides, and few other VCR'S had the wooden sides too in the 70's.
