There was an exhibition of these last year at Beaulieu Motor Museum - where I believe the above photos were taken. - In the entrance hall area of the main museum were the Duckham's and Outspan Minis - The Outspan car is one of the museum's regular exhibits. If memory serves, the Creme Egg car was there as well, and the Bass bottle van (another regular Beaulieu vehicle). The Bird's Eye 'Pea' car from a recent ad was there as well.

This year the entrance hall featured vehicles of endurance - long distance rally cars, Camel Trophy vehicles, and a Mini Clubman which has been round the world twice.

Thought I had. It was in a new post below my first one as I'd been timed out on that one. Nevermind, the pics of the Duckhams and Outspan cars are much more impressive

I saw one of those just recently.

Cadbury's had some Creme Egg cars at one time, & Bass had a car in the shape of a bottle.

    Custom built advertising promo vehicles

Anybody remember an advertising vehicle for Duckham's Oil that was built to resemble a massive oil can?

It was based on a Mini chassis and introduced around 1972 as a promo gimmick, making various appearances at vintage car shows, rallies, motor shows and such like. There must have been several of them made, they were dangerously tall and somewhat restricted by their height.

There were also the fleet of motorised oranges that were built to promote Outspan- again, probably based on a Mini running gear, with a wraparound windscreen and 'Outspan' written across the side diagonally. I used to love them, they were so cheerful as they pottered fatly along the road!

The late '60s to mid '70s was very much the heyday of custom-built advertising vehicles; more than they do now, these days products are just advertised by mobile billboard vans instead.
