A liftback coupe based on a Mazda and assembled in the United States that was intended as the late replacement for the Capri ended up as the only Ford that you didn't commonly see even during the years it was in production. The Probe was discontinued in 1998 as a result of low sales both in Europe and the US then died rather quietly. A very rare sight on the roads nowadays. A forgotten 1990s classic?

Re: Ford Probe
Is the Mondeo a modern take on the Cortina?sigpic
Do you really believe the other side without provocation would launch so many ICBM's, subs and ships knowing that we would have no option to launch as well? It would break our MAD Treaty (Mutually Assured Destruction) not to mention the end of the world as we know it.

The Probe was based on a Mazda MX-6 and used the same chassis and mechanical parts, but the bodyshell and interior were unique to the Probe as it was a hatchback whereas the MX-6 was a coupe. The MX-6 is actually the coupe version of the 626 saloon which also uses the same chassis.

Re: Ford Probe
I could have sworn that they were going in 1984, although it was probably in the United States - KITT makes me think of that.
Reminds me of a modernised Capri.I've everything I need to keep me satisfied
There's nothing you can do to make me change my mind
I'm having so much fun
My lucky number's one
Ah! Oh! Ah! Oh!
