My name's Tony...The whole Falco thing is not a reference to the musicmeister, but to the Roman detective from the Lindsey Davis novels. Check 'em out.

I'm screaming towards 40, and pretty much thought I was alone in remembering all this stuff - but already today I've seen a picture of a Quattro can and another of a Texan bar, and realised that the world is full of beggars like me with long memories, a bit of a nostalgia kick and, usually, one or two things that they thought only they remembered, to the point of wondering if they imagined it. Pleased to meet you all, let's have some fun!

    Hi John/Falco
    Welcome to the forum
I've just hit 40, there must be something about it that makes you start reminiscing!!

Thanks folks. have a feeling you're probably right there Darren. Only been on it since yesterday, and I seem to be everywhere lol Everything brings up some new - or rather old - memory.
Paulos - yeah...but the weird thing is, just about the time you want to start reminiscing, your brain goes to scrambled eggs and things you used to remember precisely get all vague and cloudy. that can't be fair, can it? ;o)

Already had two fantastic things happen while here - a public information film I'd begun to suspect I had just imagined has been shown to me, in all its terrifying kid-nightmare0inducing glory for the first time in decades. Gonna haunt me for the rest of the day, that! And a band I couldn't find anywhere have also been dug up on Youtube. Fantastic!

Let's see: Weird, random stuff my brain throws up...
Seeing the Animal Kwackers LIVE in pantomime...
Being gutted when they cancelled Manimal...
The joy of Tangerine Dream and Street Hawk. Actually, recently bought the Complete Street Hawk on DVD and realised EXACTLY why they cancelled that one...
Dead Head - weird dark drama with Dennis Lawson I should never have been allowed to see. Likewise Blackeyes...
Obviously the Adrian Mole TV series - had a horrendous crush on the girl who played Pandora, and wish the Ian Dury theme tunes were downloadable from somewhere...
Me and My girl - sitcom was lame as Hell, but again, had a crush on 'My girl' - Joanna Walker?
Being vaguely addicted to Quattro...or Quatro, however you spelled it - weird fruit pop, not Suzi in the leather trousers...although...
Some weird toffee that came in a rectangular silver foil tray with rounded ends...Golden...something or other.
OTT - like an adults-only TISWAS, still fronted by Chris Tarrant. Again, was way too young to see this, but a cousin of mine taped an episode once and showed it to me just to see if I'd blush...
Meeting Maurice Colborne once at Alton Towers, before he started in Howards' Way, and being star-struck at having met Lytton from Doctor Who ;oD
Sending off to join the Tufty Club with hard...erm...borrowed cash - AND NEVER HEARING ANYTHING BACK! Scarred me for life, that did!
Those weird anti-smoking adverts with Superman Vs Nick O'Teen...sent off to join that club too - Superman's no talking squirrel, HE wrote back!
Richard O'Sullivan as Dick Turpin, and some blonde young geezer as Swift Nick.
Being convinced that Geoffrey Bayldon of Catweazle and Worzel Gummidge's Crowman fame was actually William Hartnell, the first Doctor Who (actually just rocked back on my heels, cos I just wiki-checked him to make sure of the name, and discovered he turned down the part of both the First AND Second Doctors...Hmm...)
Ludvig, the weird cartoon violin-playing robo-egg.
Having a Barbapapa doll made out of foam...
Having nightmares after first listening to Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds...but being compelled to go and listen to it again...

Lol - there's lots more of course, just thought of this handful as stuff no-one else ever seems to mention...

                Cheers everyone.

                  Hey Tony,

I think your toffee is Bluebird toffee (there's a thread on here somewhere) and thanks for rousing a long forgotten memory - Ludwig the egg!

                    Re: Ello

Hmm...Maybe Tricky, but I seem to remember there being a Golden connection, cos I always had to point at it to differentiate it from Golden Nuggets - those little sacks of yellow chewing-gum you could get (remember those?). That's why I think it was something like Gold Bullion or somesuch nonsense.

Ah yes, Ludvig...wig, whatever. What WAS the point of that thing again? ;o)

Pop quiz everyone - inspired by Tricky's pic - who was your favourite Rentaghost...ghost?

I remember golden bullion bars, pretty sure Tricky is correct I seem to remember them being made by bluebird too.

Thanks Claudine, much appreciated - recently picked them up on DVD from one of those places that sells series that aren't commercially available yet though. Trying to remember the Pandora actress's name - think it was Lynsey Stagg.

Next ones to pick up - Blackeyes and Dead Head, just to creep myself out - plus possibly the commercial releases of Dick Turpin and Crime Traveller...

Richard O Sullivan was the MAN in Dick Turpin....loved seeing it (repeated) in the early 80s on TVS...Great actor, very much a recluse now. He could easily come back to tv and many a time has been asked by his showbiz friends but doesn't want to....wonder why?

Manimal...ergh, I watched it as a kid, then saw it as an adult and can equally see why it was cancelled - etched into my mind is the time he turned into a big snake, his lips swelled up and then they showed his cheek and the skin ripped and underneath was his scaley snake skin....yuck.
