Hey there! I was told about this site on another chat forum that I belong to, I can't believe this site exists! I seem to spend my life trying to get people to remember tv shows, books and songs from my childhood, and no-one ever does. I only started bowsing this site properly today, and there are hundreds of you who DO remember the stuff that I do, and more besides!!!!!!
I'm 43, female, was a kid in the 70's and a teen/young adult in the 80's.
I get very nostalgic about the telly I watched as a kid, and I am a passionate fan of electro/indie/new wave music (Teardrop Explodes, Bunnymen, Joy Division, Eyeless In Gaza, Magazine,Kraftwerk, Japan, John Foxx especially!)
Never had my nose out of a book when I as a kid (usually Enid Blyton), never stopped playing music in my teens (and still haven't, to this day), and watched a LOT of telly over the years. I was brought up in a small Scottish town and never really got to go to gigs til I left home to study in London at the age of 18. During my teens I tried to be a New Romantic (despite the lack of "scene" in my home town, relied on The Face and Blitz magazines to instruct me in what was hot), morphed into gothdom when I got to uni. Eventually grew up and out of the goth thing once Uni and post grad. were over - clubs no longer played what I liked, and fellow clubbers became alarmingly much younger than me! - but I've never stopped listening to my 80's music, and still have a healthy interest in current acts that appeal to me (La Roux, Editors, Killers, Paloma Faith, Jarvis Cocker are currently playing a lot in my kitchen)
Films - Godfather (1 and 2), Betty Blue, Moon, 2001 and 2010, Blade Runner, Seven, Fatal Attraction, All About Eve, Jaws, Apocalypse Now, Forrest Gump, Crouching Tiger, Star Wars (the original trilogy)
Telly - Six Feet Under, Brideshead Revisited,The Office, Tenko, Roots, Coronation Street, Brookside (until the final 2 years), Star Trek,
That probably gives you an idea of what I'm about - looking forward to sharing memories with you all!
