My most hated TV advert ever

Everybody has at least one ad. that makes them so mad they can't bear even to think about it. Mine is a beer commercial (brand not remembered) from the late '80s, set in some kind of small buisness where one of the employees is taking early retirement and going on holiday to Australia. All the workers are really objectionable- boorish, loud-mouthed 'loadsamoneys' who have clearly made a packet out of doing very little and SO pleased with themselves. The boss is the worst- crew-cutted, newly-wealthy spiv in gleaming white shirt and expensive patent leather brogues, who jumps up on his desk and delivers some gobby speech about the retiree being 'off to ride the Ozzie surf' before getting all schmaltzy about the guy's girlfriend who's sitting demurely in the background. The guy gets presented with a silver watch that has 'Surf's Up' engraved inside the casing.
The whole thing was such a crude vulgarisation of retirement send-offs- I wanted to reach through the TV screen, push that pillock off the table, tear his brogues off and beat him stupid with them!

Another ad. I hated was the early Lenor ad. from the late '70s, where the housewife is wondering whether her family will notice the difference that the fabric conditioner has made to their clothing. In the end she goes delirious and collapses laughing hysterically on the landing. For GOD'S SAKE woman, it's FABRIC CONDITIONER, not the Holy Grail! Get a life, do you seriously have an orgasm over this sort of thing??!!

Mine is these annoying go compare ads.
thing is there are so many of them.

and he must have earned a fortune from them.

there on the tv the radio etc.
everytime i hear them i press mute on the telly till its over.
on the radio i turn is down till its over.

A lot of people'd agree 100% (So do I) with you and the russian meerkat's running out of steam now and DON'T get me started on the Perry Como ASDA christmas song (YES!!!! EVERYBODY KNOWS IT'S ******* CHRISTMAS!!!!). If THAT song blares out of the Co-op instore radio speakers I won't be responsible for my actions!!!

I can just about bare Mr Go Compare (only just mind you), but not the Meerkats. It really annoys me how these things become a craze for all the wrong reasons then become even more prominent. How can anybody like these stupid, annoying things?

At this time of year I really don't like the Coca Cola holidays are coming one. It just represents Christmas in all its commercial horribleness to me. The fact that coca cola hijacked santa and made him red, the fact that they imply cola is the thing that makes your christmas magic, the fact that it's "halidays" in an American accent and not "Christmas", the fact that it has been the same flaming advert for about 10 years. Have you guessed that I don't like Christmas much lol.

I've noticed this little annoying phenomenon in recent years where they'll run the same advert back to back during a commercial break.

thank goodness some of these ads are just seasonal.
cant blame you for how u feel about that asda christmas song.

And those meerkat ads drive me bonkers as well.

Thing is its always the same old chrimbo ads every year.
wish they would do new ones.

the fella has a good voice who does those ads.
its just annoying though.
there must be at least ten of those ads with him now.

The Go Compare advers is, without a doubt, the worst thing on the planet. I'm surprised they haven't pulled it, cause everyone i've mentioned it to hates it and has boycotted the service. No such thing as bad publicity I suppose...

its that winy voice that cuts through you.

there are ads over the yrs that annoyed me but nothing on the level of the go compare ads and there are so many different ones.

I HATE the Confused.com ads. I hate the singer. I hate the Lurpak ads with Rutger Hauer's disgusting voice. How can Lurpak and Hauer go together? Anyone seen the latest one where he 'sings'? Its disgusting.

Then theres the VW ad with the hand drawing the pics to a cover of 'Wouldn't it be Nice?' The guy's voice is awful: WOOOOOOOO-dent thats how he sings it.

I also hate those furniture ads prior to Corrie. I am actually sick of female ad's in which Men are made out to be dogsbody's to women. Heaven forbid ads made with men treating women like dog poo....Clearly the ads were conceived by women for women....

I also remember a Florette ad from a few years back. Groups of idiots prancing about a field singing 'radicio' and 'frizzy'...theres one extremely camp looking skinny guy near the end that really does it....hated it.

I agree, hate Go Compare ads. I also hate that stupid Meerkat ad's for car insurance etc. Its not funny anymore. The Birdseye polar bear? Were's Captain Birdseye?!

Yes the meerkat ones are hard to stomach.
If you think they are on tv a lot they are never off the radio.

another i dont like are the ones with alexander armstrong something to do with selling cars.
Although its no where near as bad as those other 2.
