  • I DARE anybody to put O Superman on on a Pub dukebox. I've had therse reactions:
Being called a weirdo vampire freak (Ironic because of my user name but I'm more a visceral gore/demon posssession (Evil Dead anybody?) Lovecraftian horror fan myself and have books on torture/execution methods)
    Who put this on?
Been banned from the said Dukebox

Everybody Knows it's Chirstmas (Yes, WE KNOW!!!) by Perry Como. Makes me want to thow the telly through the window or get an axe to it.
O Superman ALWAYS gets a reaction at the pub (Easy, all they have to do is bring back Kronenbourg 1664)

Sounds like something from a Metal band called Bal-sagoth (have a gander at WWW.BAL-SAGOTH.COM )and hear some of the music and subject matter but DON'T ask about the heavy metal banded called EXHUMED!

I don't need to say ,much about Kate Bush's singing, especially when the moggy starts meeoooowing (especially with the current weather) to go out/be fed. Even called her kate Bush once.

Also am I allowed to mention those Go Compare adverts? I don't know how ANYBODY can stand them! Juan Sheet's got potential but bring back the Listerine Draons 'But NOT your girl' Eddie and 'ohh' Clifford!!

They're ALL the same these 60s/70s/80s/Christmas compilations that keep coming out. They have the same songs and artists but hardly ever the (possibly deliebreatlt ignored/forgotten_ obscure classics that only got mentioned once and that's it, BACK TO OBSCURITY.

The healthy eating nazis DESPISED the Fast Food Song for the reason it was about fast food places like McDonalds, etc. But I don'ty know what rthey were kicking off about.

Not read through this thread but did anyone else have the TV Theme Tunes Album from the early 70's?

I listened to it all the time as a kid, with the themes from such programmes like Upstairs Downstairs, Hadleigh, Sam(?) and of course Van Der Valk.

Can't remember my parents ever saying 'Turn that Cr*p off' because they didn't swear, but I know I would if I heard it today!

            • Most of today's music is crud, but if you want specifics, here are the songs I personally cannot stand:
'Vienna' by Ultravox, an overblown piece of pretentious self indulgence
'Total Eclipse Of The Heart' by Bonnie Tyler, another of the same ilk.
'Ride On Time' by Black Box, boring dance nonsense.
Anything by Britney or Lily Allen.
'Ire Feelings' by Rupie Edwards, utter nonsense.
Anything by Frankie Goes To Hollywood, so boring.
All Rihanna stuff except 'Russian Roulette' which was actually a decent tune.
'Love Is Blue' by Paul Mauriat, depressing.
'99 Red Balloons' by Nena, puerile.
'The Birdie Song', 'nuff said, my friends!
'Barbie Girl' by Aqua. Pointless, boring, stupidity.

I also hate 'Take My Breath Away' by Berlin. I cannot STAND Terri Nunn!

And I hate 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight' along with all charity records.

Firestarter was by The Prodigy. I think most people that lived their teens or 20's through the '90's love The Prodigy.

Anything by Scouting for girls makes my ears bleed and my stomach convulse. That goes for the Stereophonics as well. But my list of musical abominations is as follows-

Anything by Robbie Williams(Angels makes me think of bad karaoke)
All AC/DC songs(apart from 'who made who?')
Coldplay, Keane, Elbow(Bedwetters who all sound like Neil from The Young Ones)
                    All R&B and rap
Simply Red. (My dad would play his tapes in the car and I would put my hands over my ears and howl like a dog until he turned it off)
Anything by Status Quo(more naff 12 bar blues dad-rock)
                    Gloria Gaynor- I will survive
                    Freda Payne- Band of gold
All U2 songs (overblown pretentious rubbish)
All of the X-Factor/Britain's got talent/Simon Cowell/music factory products
John Farnham- You're the voice(Aaaaargh bagpipes)
Wings- Mull of Kintyre (More bagpipes)
                    Anything by Oasis
Band Aid- Do they know it's Christmas(puke)
                    Bruce Springsteen.
Wet Wet Wet- Love is all around. (once played 5 times in an hour on Atlantic 252)

I never liked The Prodigy back then but have grown to appreciate them and I'm particularly taken with this unlikely 80's/90's mash up that on paper just shouldn't work! Smack my Orinoco

That "thing" by Josh Wink - think it's called "A Higher / Altered State of Consciousness." All-but makes my fillings fall out
One from "way-back-when" - Terry Jacks' "Seasons in the Sun." Hated it then, hate it now.

And not that I'm fussy or anything, but I banned the following from our wedding:
"Unchained Melody" - by ANY artist
"Come on Eileen" - Dexy's Midnight Runners
"Feels Like I'm in Love" - Kelly Marie
                            Anything & everything by Eminem

Current targets of my hatred are that new Azealea Banks track - "212", and LMFAO's "Sexy and I know it."
