      Re: Mysterious Big Cat Prints?

The ginger moggy was a cat that lived I think at a pub not too far from where the sighting took place.Aparantly it usually wanders across the fields near by.So it could of been one explanation for the sighting especially if it was seen from an awkward angle or from some distance away.

There are only two sightings of lions in the uk wandering free I know of.One was at sheerness sheppey. Here a bloke used to keep lions on show at near Blue town not far from the docks. One got out and wandered around sheerness untill they caught it.Old story so possibly local fairy tale but if it did happen possibly sometime before the last war,and the other was storys of a lion escaped from Longleat in Wiltshire. This one I have a feeling they captured fairly quickly.Again this must of been in the 80's now.I don't know if it's true or not but someone once told me that it became popular for people with money to keep larger cats in the 60's.All something to do with a fashion trend amongst the wealthy.Perhaps someone else knows more about this.

Supposedly when regulations on keeping dangerous animals were tightened up in the 1970s some owners either let them go or kept the illegally & didn't report them when they escaped.

One By One had an episode with a secret owner of some lions who got out of control.
