Heard the cover of 'don't stop 'till you get enough' by sixth finger in TK Maxx last year. Not often I hear a tune in a shop that really grabs me and makes me want to find out who it is by.

I heard 'You Keep It All In' by The Beautiful South in Card Factory last week. I don't normally pay a lot of attention to the music playing in shops, but as a fan of The Beautiful South I couldn't help but notice this one.

On this subject, it's always interesting when you hear something in a shop which is appropriate in some way - I was at college in Colchester from '92 to '94, so there are some songs which will always make me think of my Colchester years - 'Sleeping Satellite' by Tasmin Archer, 'Connected' by The Stereo MCs, 'Ebeneezer Good' by The Shamen and 'Ordinary World' by Duran Duran to name just 4 from the first year I was there.
About 4 years ago I returned to Colchester for a visit, and as I walked into town, the first shop I walked into was playing 'Ordinary World' by Duran Duran on the radio. It was a 'Life On Mars'-type moment (although not the '70s) - I was back in '93.

Yeah I know the original is by Michael Jackson but it was this version of it that struck me. It's a chill out version and is very soothing. An unusual choice for a shop where upbeat tunes and dance music are usually the order of the day in a bid to whip customers into a buying frenzy.
my son came in from HMV and he had heard a 'fantastic' song - when we finally got it sorted it was Dont leave me this way - communards - he was impressed that I knew it (my fave song) and then text his mate and put it on his ipod!
