I've played drums since the age of 9 and been the drummer in my local brass band for the last 30 odd years.
Played guitar since my late teens and was in a band in my 20's.
I now play bass guitar in a different band as well as carrying on with my brass band.

    I like Pearl drums
    Gibson les paul guitars
I also have a couple of Ibanez
Marshall amps (selling my bass stack if anyones interested)
And have a very nice Markbass rig.

I agree the bass is an overlooked intrument, almost essential for most music (unless you are The Doors or Prince at times!) but often ignored.

I am partial to most instruments that have appeared in a rock band but one in particular stands out. It's a big traditional base but it needs to be played so that it slaps back when plucked hard. Not something you would see today in a band. But it Sounds great when put up against the rim shot of a good drummer.

    Re: Favourite Instruments

Guitars are the most intimate of instruments by virtue of both hands having contact with the strings, as opposed to a violin, for example, which generally uses a bow in one hand. It makes for a very personal sound.
