Why do people say "can i get" before ordering a drink?...i would be tempted to reply "yes..come and get it"

That's like Florida .... when you are ask where the nearest cafe / KFC / toilet is ... they say " it's gonna be down there " ...

I was tempted to say " I don't wanna know where it's 'gonna be'
I want to know where it IS now

I also detest hearing people , quite often very intelligent people ... saying ... " I fink that " or " I fawt that " or " it cost free (3) pounds 50 pence "

That reminds me of the phrase "there you go" when given something such as a drink or your change, and some assume that the response should be "where?"

In The Famous Five, Georgina was called George for short, and so why wasn't Julian called Julie for short?

A fine example a woman with a man's name doesn't seem as weird as the other way round methinks.

Why does weed killer kill humans when humans are not weeds? (Or are we weeds for the Health and Safety benefit of the product?)

Does anyone remember that perfume in a black bottle in the 1980s which was called Poison? Now, that could be a relevant name if seen in the same context...
