That reminds me of the phrase "there you go" when given something such as a drink or your change, and some assume that the response should be "where?"

Why do people say "can i get" before ordering a drink?...i would be tempted to reply "yes..come and get it"

That's like Florida .... when you are ask where the nearest cafe / KFC / toilet is ... they say " it's gonna be down there " ...

I was tempted to say " I don't wanna know where it's 'gonna be'
I want to know where it IS now

Thank your lucky stars that you don't come from my neck of the woods whether people overuse the word "duck" when addressing people. Mind you, the younger people quite often use a word that rhymes with "duck".
