    I've been out picking blackberries recently with my son.
    You can keep the overpriced plastic wrapped commercial varieties . The wild ones are packed with flavour, we've made blackberry and apple crumble, small shortcrust apple and blackberry pies with cinnamon and muffins galore.
    I'm hoping it's going to to be a generous and prolific fungi season this year too, chestnuts in October and the very small chance of grabbing some hazelnuts before the squirrels do.

    Might even have a bash at leaching some acorns and getting a bit experimental with those too.

    When it comes to picking fungi it's vital to get it right of course. I'd rather not have Death Cap for breakfast thank you very much....defo off the menu as far as I'm concerned
