  • American cream soda

A pale pink shebert Lick you finger dip it in simple or if you had a lolly you could use that . You used to be able to buy it in sweet shops weighed out into a "quarter of" bags etc. It was very very very sweet, and would get EVERYWHERE however hard you tried not to.

I used to get this from my corner shop in the little village I grew up in. I don't know if this happened in other areas, but it was fashion to rip a corner of the paper bag off it came in and funnel it into your mouth if you didn't have a lolly to eat it with.

My brother and I used to mix ours with water and drink it. We used to do that with Sherbert Fountains as well. We used to pretend we were drinking "cocktails" and use the liquorice as a swizzle stick. How sad. Lol.

I assumed this thread was going to be about the drink. I also remember buying the powdered stuff by the quater. I loved it but I could never remember what it was called!

I can remember buying sugar crystals like this either lemon or raspberry by the quarter but we didn't call it American cream soda. I don't think we had a name for it. Was this the same stuff or something different?

American cream soda sherbert was and still is made by Moxtons. You can still get it in sweet shops.

Cream soda was a smoother taste. Sugar crystals tended to be tangy. Both used to rip your tongue to shreds if you ate them with a lolly.
