I am a fully paid up member of simca owners club uk and "yes" a few do still exist! When you look at the people carrier vehicles that were available then (other than the faithful upmarket range rover) then i suppose the matra rancho was the first of its kind! Groundbreaking is the word i shall use here!

Matra helped develop the Espace for Renault, so there's a connection.

A Rancho was used as a time car for the first London Marathon in 1981.
