  • Reebok Pumps

Reebok Pumps were really popular in the 90s, as they were the first trainers to feature an internal inflation mechanism. You had to repeatedly press a button on the tongue to inflate it the trainer. It was targeted originally at basketball playing youths (and later tennis and hockey players), who quickly cottoned onto the status symbol that came with an inflating shoe. But I'm not sure why this was a good thing, as it just made you feel like your shoes were suddenly too small for you, but at the time I thought I was so cool! Nike Airs were the rival trainer to Reebok Pumps.

I remember a friend at school having a pair of those.

Didn't Mr Bean have a go a inflating a pair, pumping them until they burst?
