Avatars/profile pictures question

Not a suggestion, but a question (I couldn't find a forum here for asking questions, so I thought this would be the only place this topic could go). I'm new here, and I have an issue which I hope someone can resolve.

How does one upload avatars or profile pictures? I've tried several times, noting the limits for image sizes, and every time I try, I receive the following message:

Upload of file failed.

Any ideas about where I'm going wrong? Thanks in advance.


Update: It appears that my selected avatar is now being displayed, in spite of the fact that I received a message telling me the upload had failed. I'm confused.

Glad your avatar is now working and very nice it is too , profile picture should be same size

'The maximum size of your custom image is 80 by 80 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller).'
