Unusual characters in posts

One thing that I don't like is the characters that appear from nowhere when I publish a post on here - when I wrote a pound sign as in £2,000 - I have to write it as two thousand pounds instead.

Does anyone else have this problem on their screens, or is it the software for this forum rather than the way we see it ourselves? Nevertheless it is annoying that one cannot write something out properly without that happening.

Seems to work ok for me, what browser are you using? Does the same thing happen if you use another?

I've never noticed anything like that happening and mine too appears to be fine

I wrote it as £2,000 where you both wrote it as £2000.

Could it be the comma that is causing it?

I still got the "Â" before it as I wrote it just now - it could be my computer not processing it on screen?

I am using Microsoft Edge.

I have also got Google Chrome and I might see if it happens on there.
