I saw The Stranglers in 1983 at the Colston Hall in Bristol, we organised a trip from school and went in the school minibus with a couple of teachers.
Mine was The Stranglers at the Colston Hall too, but in 1980. I remember it as VERY loud. Went with loads of friends from school.
It was just after we had all done our 'O' levels, so looking back that summer concert was a kind of final fling for our punkish network before we all dispersed. Some like me, went on to do A levels, and I kind of lost my way with the Punk/New Wave music of bands like The Stranglers, Magazine and The Cure, becoming drawn in to the more middle class teenager tastes of 70s prog rock, which somehow was still echoing loudly in 6th form culture at the time and setting me up for a painful readjustment when I eventually went off to university in '83.

Reason: spelling
Hi everyone, i remember when i was about 16 years old going to see the glitter band and the band called showaddywaddy, {i think that is how you spell their name}, if i have spelt it wrong someone let me know please, i seem to remember that these groups were very very good, i went to see them at a barn dance not far from where i lived, glad i did go and see them,
Phew, with all these cool bands being quoted I thought I was the only one who would be owning up to Shawaddywaddy! It was sometime before 1981 and carnival day where I lived, mum took me and my sister to the carnival then packed my sister off with a babysitter and took me for my "surprise", I was absolutely delighted and can still be heard humming "under the moon of love" occasionally lol
