Songs you never had a clue what they were on about, but wish youd known
Not many people will know this, but one very popular female singer who has had a record banned by the BBC is Shirley Bassey. It was in the late 50's. The song was called "Burn My Candle (At Both Ends)". I wouldn't like to say this for definite, but I think it may have been about a threesome.
strange that, 'burning a candle at both ends' is a very common statement meaning a person who is working far too hard. S oit just goes to show how censorship and the BBC was prevalent even back then.
