The song House of the Rising Sun is known to have been sung by the group the Animals but it was also sang by the band Frijid Pink

The difference to The Animals version Frijid Pink included an electric guitar intro

Do you really believe the other side without provocation would launch so many ICBM's, subs and ships knowing that we would have no option to launch as well? It would break our MAD Treaty (Mutually Assured Destruction) not to mention the end of the world as we know it.

HOTRS is a traditional song of unknown authorship. Possibly 19th century, or early 20th century and maybe based on even earlier songs. There are many different versions, and it has been performed by many artists, both male and female. It is the story of a prostitute in a b rothel.

Most or all versions include the line "It's been the ruin of many a poor girl" even when the performer is male. The version by The Animals, however, changes it to "poor boy" which obscures the meaning of the song. Other than that, it's one of my all time top 10.

Also a great version by Dylan.

The Animals' one hit #1 in the UK and was the longest such for some time!

Yeah I prefer the Animals version, too. It's one of the few songs from the 60's that still holds up well today.
