  • Fantastic records/Fantastic Forgotten record Thread

    starter for ten..

Stevie Wonder- Music of my Mind

a fantastic album, made even more special due to the fact SW was only 21 when he recorded this and played pretty much all the instruments on it..
no mean feat.. add the fact the dude is blind.. unreal album.

no matter how bad your day..this album cannot fail to raise your spirits.
Which is why its the first album I nominate for this section

Please feel free to add a favorite album.
All I ask is it must be at least 5 years old.

(and obviously not a super famous record, I.E Dark side of the moon)

Hopefully others will enjoy these albums too

My Fave Album is probably for the memories it brings rather than the tracks themselves

        NOW 1984 - Various Artists

It was the time ALL my kids were still home, and contained at least one track of each of their favourites including

I Won't Let the Sun Go Down On Me -Nik Kershaw (Huggies fave)
Wake Me Up Before You Go-go - Wham! (Her sister Louise's choice)
I Want to Break Free - Queen (Ian's (Worzel) choice )

Me ? All of them because they were played over and over on the best family holiday ever to Butlin's Minehead in the named year - Ahhhh memories !!
        Joybee - DYR SUPERGRAN !!

          Talk Talk- Spirit of Eden

Can't describe this, it just has to be heard.

Preferably with the lights out, late at night..

All TT albums are great, but this is just fantastic.

          Emotional Mood Music

Got the 1969 version of Space Oddity on Vinyl (david Bowie). It was supposed to coincide with the Apollo 11 Moonlanding. Didn't really get anywhere in the charts and was re-released in 1975.

The David Gates Songbook....because I'm a big sentimentalist.

Here's a copy of the write up about it..

This collection contains many of Gates's most poignant songwriting moments, including some of his hit songs with Bread, much of his released solo material, and several new records. With poetic string arrangements, distinctive and effortlessly mercurial vocals and trademark soppiness aplenty, Gates ensures his songs have an evergreen romantic quality. Indefatigable sentimentalists will weep with joy at this collection, but there are some golden moments here that everyone should hear.

Another couple of songs you might find sad..... But I still love them.

                            Elvis Costello - Oliver's Army
Wings - Band on The Run (Single and album - both good)
