yes Marc Almond was a good looking guy when he first hit
the scene... his music very decadent but distinctive and he
      had a good voice.
He made a big impact... a bit like Gary Numan when he first hit the scene

Marc had a bad accident a few years ago.. a crash riding pillion on
      a motorbike through London.............!
Make it your rule........ never ever ride pillion on a motorbike !

Must agree with you about Blonde Redhead, although most of their stuff is quite haunting. Hardly do you remember though, I saw them at Shepherds Bush last year. Another one I saw last year, who I think has the most haunting lyrics of all is Regina Spektor.

I tried to put the piece of music I'm about to mention on the main DYR site, but it never appeared.

Worth mentioning though - Rondo Veneziano - 'La Serenissima' - Which might not ring a bell written down, but it was the piece of pop/classical music that came with the video of an animated classical orchestra with featureless metal faces, rising out of the sea in a Venetian storm. In the video, some of Venice's buildings and the orchestra themselves were teleported in bubbles into a spaceship. It was all over the TV in 1983.

                                Haunting songs??

                                Ghostbusters?

The Walker Brothers - The Electrician (just Scott Walker in reality, doubt the others had anything to do with it.. scarily prescient of his later work)
