This was a card game of sorts with small cards that had 3 coloured spots on that you placed down in turn to make a row of the same colour a bit like dominos but with coloured spots i think it was a Spears brand

Well well, done. That *looks* interesting, as a dominoes variant.

But Spears Games in my experience often had fatal flaws due to inadequate playtesting, and a couple of runs-through demonstrated such all too easily.
"Cat's Mansion" comes to mind as the most spectacular of these. Very nice idea and components, but not a workable game at all.

There are usually a few for sale on eBay and, for some reason, almost always in pristine condition!
