I agree Mario 3 is a game even when you complete you are gutted inside, great game lots of depth and keeps you amused for hour's on end!!!!

Real 3D doesn't seem to have taken off to any great degree in the gaming market. Maybe it's because people don't want to wear specs or a headset to play the games. I've played a few brilliant Google Cardboard 3D games, but if the graphics are even a tiny bit wrong, you can feel nauseous with motion sickness very quickly. Still, there's a lot of free 3D Android games out there (3D Labyrinth is a good start) and a Google Cardboard headset only costs a few quid. The last 3D PC game I bought was Avatar, but my PC doesn't have the processing power to play it in 3D. Still the world of Pandora looks very beautiful even in 2D, and you have the freedom to look up down around and behind you. I would still vote for Elite as the best computer game of all time though.

Mario 3. There's just something magical about the game. (The SNES version lacks the charm of the original). The depth of the game is fantastic and no other Mario game can match it for sheer variety of power ups and suits. Mario World might look nicer but it was much emptier and boring than Mario 3.

The Yanks are insular when it comes to anything. If an American writes a history of home computers then don't expect anything on the Amstrad CPC, MSX, anything from Acorn, and only a brief mention of the Sinclair Spectrum. Expect to see no end of stuff about Apple, Commodore, Tandy, Atari, and the IBM PC Jr instead.

I can vaguely recall a game like this but it wasn't a proper 3D game you can walk around in.

What I have noticed is that anything written about computer games by Americans completely ignores Driller and its sequels Dark Side, Total Eclipse, and Castle Master that use the Freescape game engine. It's not clear from stuff written by Americans what the first proper 3D game is but it certainly wasn't Wolfenstein because you can't look up or down like with the Freescape games.

The Yanks are so insular when it comes to video games. Wolfenstein first 3D game? Not even close. Video game crash of 1983, what the hell are they talking about? There was no video game crash, it was just a Yank thing. Games were thriving here and Japan.

Easy .... Jet Set Willy....... rubbish graphics, terrible glitches, the most annoying music in a game ever (except maybe Tetris) but completely and utterly addictive and brilliant
