The style and build of your planes reminds me of a Kiel Kraft Ace. I still have a Kiel Kraft Gipsy my dad built in the early 70's.

Just looking at Amazon, I was surprised to see just how expensive model kits seem to be now. The Airfix 'Dambusters' Lancaster I built in the 70s is now £37 and the RRP is north of £40. I remember buying Airfix kits in their 'series 1' range - they came in bags rather than boxes - and they were about 25p circa 1976.

Also, I had dozens of those boxes of Airfix HO-oo scale soldiers, even the astronauts and Tarzan boxes. I had 3 of the Airfix playsets, the pontoon bridge assault set, gun emplacement set and French Foreign Legion fort set. I think there was also a Robin Hood set featuring a castle and maybe others. Those little soldiers soon became mixed up and I stored them in old metal tins left over from Christmas shortbread.
