What did everyone do in their spare time before the advent of the internet in 1989?

For me & still is CB Radio - I have two handhelds one a Skiptech HS 2000 FM legal 27/81 stamped and more recently a HK520 multi band handheld with UK legal CB band and FM & AM CEPT Euro frequencies

Do you really believe the other side without provocation would launch so many ICBM's, subs and ships knowing that we would have no option to launch as well? It would break our MAD Treaty (Mutually Assured Destruction) not to mention the end of the world as we know it.

Watch TV & video more, I was really pleased to get my own VCR for my 21st birthday so I could watch things without waiting for the TV downstairs to be free.
