We used to have footy cards with all the stars of the day. "useful" infor on the back and a piece of chewing gum to accompany each pack. There was a bout 5 in a pack and you used to swapsies. We also played skimming them nearest to the wall.
Progressed later onto pitch & toss.We would toss 10ps to see who got nearest to the wall - winner takes all.

Oh Yes skateboarding. You could tell who had money......Jofa helmet, arm & knee pads. expensive board with Kryptonic wheels (usually lime green). Ther were those of us who just has the board & nowt else.

Still got mine, from Woolworths 1978 I think it was bought only a cheapish one but it came standard with red rubbers in the trucks witch were better than the normal black ones (softer rubber). It still is in good nick and the rubbers have not perished at all surprisingly.

I rememebr all of those (including littlest hobo and plenty of other tv programs that probably aren't mentioned on this website!!). Making camps out of old blankets (and those were mum's best ones!!) and chairs. Making our own go-karts (unless the wheels fell off and they didn't go anywhere) out of planks of wood, old pram wheels and a strong piece of string to use for steering. Playing marbles, jacks, pogo sticks (if you were lucky), hide and seek and as you said 'lastics, which I think was the french skipping.

There was still the bullying, but on todays standards, would only be classed as "winding up" or "teasing", still the odd kick or slap included, but not knives etc..

Not all kids are like the ones we here about and I know there are some real baddies out there, but I would really like to know what has made them into what they have become. Babies aren't born bad and I think that is really sad.

I have personally known kids that have bad reputations, criminal records, asbos etc and have been fortunate to see a good side to them (believe it or not!!).

I wish some of those kids could have had our upbringing, maybe there lives might be different as well.

Sorry to have gone on about this, I just feel very sad at the way society has changed.:cry:

British Bulldog was banned in my school, coz we got too violent. We also used to play kerbsy, queenie quennie whos got the ball, may we cross your golden river, stuck in the mud and of course every boys night mare - Kissy Kat. Knives Forks Spoons Cuts and a million more.

They aren't my kids lol, they were kids I have looked after in care etc..

But when I find out how to I will start another thread about the discipline we had as kids and how we might have cheated on it lol

We used to play Kick Stone Elisio (???) I think it must have been a name made up around our way - One person is 'it' and has to find everyone else when they find someone they both run back to 'Stone Elisio' (usually a lampost) kick it - if the it person gets there first then the other is in jail - other way around the person would shout 'KICK STONE ELISIO ALL FREE' and the game would start again for the poor it person.
Isn't it the same game as kick the can???

i did that when i was younger but i tripped jumping the wall fell flat on my face and got a shiner for it, worse was having to explain to my dad
