Re: remember>??
My parents bought me plasticraft and enamelcraft way back when kids were allowed to chew razor blades & play footy on the M1
OMG, elf & safety would have 40 fits these days.
As my birthday is close to Christmas I got a mould for my birthday which was an ashtray/paperweight.
The following year, everybody got paperweights and ashtrays for Christmas, not to mention the thousands of keyrings I made.
I used to add roses or rosebuds to the paperweights - I think I had to soak them in glycerine first to help preserve them.
With the ashtrays, I used to add a few old giggies & cigars to the mix, I even managed to encase a cigar complete with some ash.
Paperweights with baby pics & locks of hair were very popular as were keyrings with baby pics & locks of hair & baby's first tooth.
I also discovered that if you poured too much into the paperweight, it took much longer to set. As the surface began to cure I could inject colours in at different angles to create weird effects.
Although the name has gone, I believe it's simply a 2 part resin? which is still available from craft shops.
The enamelcraft I found too messy & quickly lost patience.
