  • Remember M.A.S.K?

I was clearing out the family home recently as my Dad was selling up. Whilst I was cleaning I found a plastic rocket shaped thing lodged between the floor boards under a cabinet and after a few seconds of confusion, I suddenly realised that it was from one of the M.A.S.K trucks we used to play with as kids. I can remember it going missing along with the other rocket, one of the doors and the original driver. We ended up finding the same truck at a car boot sale with everything intact and I was absolutely buzzing. We used to love playing with the M.A.S.K figures and watching the series on TV. I think this would have been a mid to late 80's thing. Anyone have any fond M.A.S.K memories?

I had Matt Tracker's car which turned into a jet plane.

In 1986/7 it was really popular with the boys at my school for a year or 2.

The cartoon was really good, normally shown as an insert on the Wide Awake Club.

They were 2 parters so I always tried to see both parts.

It was a hybrid of Transformers and G.I Joe, personally I thought it took the good bits from both and made something better. I've just looked up the character I was referring to, it was "Chief" Nevada Rushmore and it was actually a purple flatbed tow truck although I remember it as more greyish. Was good to read through the list of vehicles and characters, some of them I'd completely forgot about. You just don't get series like this anymore, times have changed so much. It was a great era for cartoon animation series.

There seemed to be a period when there were loads of cartoons with a toy line, which seemed to be promoted a lot for a few years than suddenly replaced by something new.

Yep, I was trying to find some of the M.A.S.K figures I could remember and came cross a load of old action figures from the same era. Visionaries and He-man were two others that I was big into growing up, along with thundercats of course. Watched some thundercats not long back actually after somehow flicking onto it on Youtube. Ended-up watching a few episodes for nostalgia purposes whilst I was doing a bit of browsing. Never quite the same as you remember but every so often a memory gets triggered. Been looking through some of the action figures trying to jog some memories. Found a whole bunch of vintage action figures for sale. Some of the one's still boxed, don't half cost a pretty penny.

Here's the truck I was looking for from M.A.S.K, looks different to how I remember it and had completely forgot about the racing car that fits on top.
