Hmm I think I know what you mean!! I had one of these when I was a kid but it wasn't quite like the picture above.

Mine was a pink boot, with no lace and a yellow roof. When you opened it it was a schoolhouse with several floors and it had little Owl teachers with mice students and things!! I loved it and I still have it, I'll have a hunt for it and try and post a picture.

The figures were smaller than the ones in the above picture and the shoe and everything in it was more minuscule.

I know EXACTLY the the toy you're looking for, Tam. It took me ages to track it down, but I found a pair of these toy boots (no pun intended!) on Ebay about a fortnight ago. They were each going for about a fiver when I looked. I can't find a picture at the moment, but I can tell you that they were manufactured by Mattel in 1977. I had one of those when I was very young, and I absolutely adored it. For nostalgia's sake, it's one of the few childhood toys I really wish I'd kept.

I stand corrected! I could have sworn it said Mattel on the Ebay description, but the toy in post 19 of this thread is the one I was thinking of...I notice that the post has been edited a few hours ago, so maybe that's how I missed it first time around (!)

Yes you are right Captain Glam, but my moneys on the red roof version post 17, I added the other colour version so people could see there were two Matchbox ones.
I didn't realize you meant that one with you saying Mattel. I spent an hour last night trying to track down the Mattel version to no avail, now I know why LOL

Sorry about that, Huggie! If it's any consolation, I spent ages looking as well, after reading Tam's question, understandably to no avail either! I'm quite certain it was listed as Mattel on Ebay, as I wrote the details down to tell a friend - I'm guessing the item was mislabeled, but I'm glad you got the right toy in the end anyway!

It's a weird concept if you think about it too closely lol

Mind you, I was a big fan of the Shoe People... oh no, I have the theme tune in my head now

I think the old woman who lived in a shoe had a lot to answer for.
