OMG, yes I had them too, I completely forgot about them.

Picture here, but I'm sure mine were black not orange, they were definitely joined by wire though.

You're right they were red, just my dodgy eyesight first thing on a morning.

The set in the pic sold for £80

One of my friends had a Knight Rider wired set. Both handsets had keypads, all the keys made a noise like an electronic bagpipe.

I had a Transformers wireless set, which were ok until one of them could only receive & not transmit. After a few years me & another friend tried to fix them but couldn't.

I had some but you had to be so close to each other for them to work that there seemed no point at all.

Stuff the walkie talkies - when I was a kid I was a sucker for themed wallets! Never got to join Bay City PD though - could have given them a reference from CI5 though!

I was obsessed with walkie-talkies when I was a kid. Even as an adult I find myself tempted to buy them!!

Trouble is, the old 27mhz walkie-talkies running on 9 volt batteries were truly dire. With a range of about 10 feet before the signal became too weak to hear anything...

And morse code - loads of them had a morse button and all the morse-code printed on the case.

me and my sis had a set that were in the shapes of dogs, they were red on the front and yellow on the back or vice versa. I don't remember much more about them as they didn't work on xmas day and were taken away on the promise of being replaced which never happened!

I had some in the 80's and they worked pretty well. If you tuned it just right you could pick up the police radios, which was interesting. I also remember once picking up a telephone conversation! I'm not sure how, but it was two older men having a conversation about Corronation street! : )

I always wanted some walkie talkies. Had to make do with using my friend's Depsey and Makepeace wired set, very much like Richard's Knight Rider ones with the electronic bagpipe buttons. Must have been the same design.

I remember my friend who had the Knight Rider set had seen a very similar Thundercats set in the same shop but they were £2 more.

I guess the makers just changed the transfers & stickers for different brandings.

yes me and my older bro had a few waklie talkies over the yrs.

they where sort of like an eighties version of a mobile phone.

they where just basic black ones but they worked very well

had each set for quite a long time.
