Awesome pictures thanks for sharing. I had that Play Desk in the last picture and remember it now and then. Nice to be reminded exactly how it looked.

        That is fab !

I remember my brother having some of them toys but it would have been a few years before as he was born in 1970.

Some of the toys seem expensive compared to todays prices !

Re: Mail order/ Old Argos Catalogues

I had one of those Vertibird helicoptor things, but mine was the Starship Enterprise from Star Trek. I have to say, I thought it was one of the dullest toys ever. Barely more interesting than the compass set I got from education-minded relatives that year!

That last one, the Timpo Prairie Rocket was produced for years and years, in vast numbers and is still quite valuable.
Sub-sets of Wild West Collectors and Model Railway Enthusiasts are both after it:
on-line prices £60-£145 I've seeen quoted. Picked up mine battered for a tenner, as I wanted it for cannibalisation purposes. But the result has served on an exhibition model railway for ten years.

A couple currently on eBay, cheap, (so far).

We did have fun when I brought in a vertibird clone (Chopper Patrol) to work, and set it up in an empty room. That was seriously popular but only a minority of us really got the hang of it... Which made the rest want to get better, and those few want to show off.
