  • 1980s music toy

    Hi Guys
been trying to track the name of a 1980s cartoon for ages but am having no luck. I know that the cartoon was merchandised because I had a toy from it. I'm not too sure what the toy was called but it was like a wind up picture/music reel.

It had like a flat monitor with a button to wind it up. Once wound up the picture moved across the screen as the music played (much like one of the moving billboard advertisements)

What was this type of toy called? Was it popular in the 80's?

Here is a description of the cartoon :
It was about a little blonde girl, who was either an orphan or entrusted to a governess but without any real family. It wasn't set in contemporary times, had a Heidi/Little House on the Prarie feel to it. This little girl is given a dog as a present, a small brown dog, who I think (but am not certain) was called mable.

The key thing is the dog. I remember the dog being given to her in a basket as a pup. It was a little brown dog.

The toy had the image of the little girl running across the prarie with the dog following her on it.

In the cartoon forum, I ask if anyone recognised the cartoon specifically. Here, I was asking about the toy.

The toys are 'moving musical t.v's' (televisions) I think

That's what I thought of from the description, but the only one I remember was the Fisher Price kiddie one

Thats the one we had, My niece had a Tot's tv one in the 90's and my own children have had a teletubbies and Bob The Builder ones, think most popular tv characters end up on/in one.

The fisher price ones seem bigger, this one was smaller with nt such a bulky scene. It had the little girl running across green meadow with dog.
                            I'm becoming obsesed haha
