Black toy car that lifted itself up and spun around shooting.

I'm trying to remember a toy my friend had. It looked a bit like the knight rider car and it drove along by itself. Then it would stop lift itself up in the centre then spin around flashing lights making machine gun sounds. then it lowers itself again and drives on.
Anyone have any idea what it was?

This rings loud bells, I'm sure my younger brother had one in the 80's? I think his may have been a police car I'll ask him if he can remember what it was called.
