Re: Best ad of all time
My favorite is this Wendy's commercial from the '80s.
And here's some actual Soviet commercials from the same period.
1. Light Dimmer
2. Tkani Kompan'yon Menswear
3. Radiotekhnika Anfiton-MS Stereo (Soviet "Walkman")

Re: Best ad of all time
I seem to recall a commercial for DHL from, I believe, the '90s. It depicted a French delivery driver (evidentally representing the competition) malingering in an empty sidewalk cafe in Paris and he's totally indifferent to the fact that his van, which is parked across the street, is being towed away and as it is all the packages fall out of the back.

I came across Glasgow Dolmio ads on you tube, there seem to be loads of them, they should be on the telly.
I liked the cadburys flake ad from the 70's
and the jameson advert from a few years ago, old bloke 'plays' dance with the devil.

No they aren't but annoying as hell aren't they? The only one I liked was the one with the OAP ones, ones deaf as a post....The reason being is the scruffy one who gets annoyed looks like my Dad these days and the smart one who first mistakes then jokes about the name of the site is a bit deaf like my Dad an all..My Mum had a surreal sense of humour and if she'd seen these ads she'd definitely have taken the michael out of my old man and said thats him...and as a kid if she saw the ones with the annoying brats....Originally posted by stuckinthe80's View PostNeither of these are 70's 80's or 90's though are they?

The 'Irn Bru' 'made in Scotland from Girders ad was wicked. Thanks for the upload - when I saw it again after all these year I instantly remembered the song and could sing it word for word...Thats what you call great advertising. Loved how they lampooned the Coke ads of the time....and the end bit where the vending machine nuts the guy....he heee!
I loved Tufty ads. Even though I'm a bloke I still like soft toy animals. So?! If its problematic imagine the Irn Bru machine being me and thee being the bloke....They used to repeat them in the 1980s. The innocence of the ads and the on going naughty Willy Weasel getting injured...
Smash, Milk Tray ads with the nutty Australian Milk Tray Man model doing all those stunts (its true), PG Tipps Chimps ads, one of my Dads faves - even though he was never usually interested in ads or brands etc - was the 'This ain't blinkin' Calais'...
Having seen the Brooke Shields Calvin Klein Jeans ads - which warmed my reptilian cool blood no end....
, reiterates my point, you can see the male dominant ad industry in its content....while men and women should work equally, I do still feel ads today are on the whole bland, a waste of money and time...too 'pc' (hate that term though)....I also loved those BT ads with Maureen Lipman, can still remember the one: 'An Ology?! Anthony! You get an Ology, your a scientist!'

It was for that credit card, egg.com or the one with one side that was curved and the other was normal...mint I think.Originally posted by Jingbang View PostThe one when a black bloke has a pair of magnetic Shoes and hes walkin down the street and has money and stuff attaching to them, then a girl with a pair of braces on her teeth becomes attached to them and they get married. At the end hes stuck to the side of a Lorry by his shoes and hes screaming and his head bounces off a Lamp post, that was one of the funniest ones ever, It was only about 8 years ago if anyone else can remember this, or know what it was advertising or even better know a website i could see it again i would love to know.

is the one mate.Originally posted by scotchmist View PostI seem to remember a Tennent's Lager ad in the late 80's that had a male actor from Eastenders in it with a backing track by Big Country. He was basically walking through various environments throughout the UK featuring groups of people in various occupations...the song went.. "If there's one great thing that's happened in my life.....if there's one great thing....."
