Flat eric - levis advert, pro mo stuff!

I was a great fan of the yellow strange puppet and there is still a following online - I own some Flat Eric memorabilia and amongst it a set of 5 badges sent to me from Levis themselves.

I was wondering

if any one knew if my Levis Flat Eric badges are rare, they were sent to me at the time of the launch whilst the ads were on telly?

I have not seen ANY about to compare!

There were many adverts in 1999, with the yellow fellow in, and some were only shown a few times, I found most of them online - then he made a cameo appearance recently, alongside David Soul of Starskey & Hutch fame, in a Auto mart AD.

I've got 2 CDs with Flat Beat on, which was the music used on the ads.

Flat Eric and those Levis adverts were brilliant! I also own a copy of Flat Beat but on tape, excellent tune! If I remember right I'm pretty sure that Flat Eric appeared on the cover of the very first issue of Heat magazine. Wasn't there a rumour of sorts around during the time that Eric was going to be killed off somehow in one of the adverts?

Brilliant Timeslipper, just brilliant! At the end when he pops the tape into the player I thought flat beat was about to start playing but alas, it was not to be! Is that last clip a totally new advert? I have never seen that one before, I think we need a Flat Eric revival.

I'm ashamed to say I don't remember Flat Eric at all... is he any relation to PG Tips Monkey? (There's a resemblance)

Nah guys, I think Flat Eric was one of those 'blink and you'll miss him' kind of things really although I'm pretty sure the Levis adverts he starred in made the list on one of them 'greatest ever' programmes shown on channel 4. I'm pretty sure the music featured in said advert, 'flat beat', even made the chart that year too. I can remmeber Eric being very popular at one point but it didn't last too long really.

Both Flat Eric & Monkey were David Brent's coat stand mascots in The Office.

The new video posted is a mystery - seems the yellow fluffy one is making a re appearance in some short film, the ones that slag his royal yellowness off are clearly lacking in a sense of humour, but Flat was not for everyones taste, I just thought he was a breath of fresh air at the time, and took to the idea a lot.
But Levis said emphatically that they would not do anymore with him, as their policy does not include using an ad campaign more than once.
