Family who ended up stuck on an island because of the boat sinking

This was an old film in which the family who had a man servant ended up managing to rescue themselves onto an island when their boat had sunk, and over the ensuing time the servant effectively became by far the most efficient person in managing their life etc. Eventually they were rescued, and it was then obviously quite difficult for them to go back to the original situation, when they had only really survived because of the servant's abilities.

I have often thought about it - but can't remember much more than this!

Just did an online check and Swept Away sounds a lot more sexy! The one I am thinking of was a very conventional family with young children!

I now see Madonna did a remake of the 1974 swept away, should of known it would be ..lets say more Adult!
