Do you really believe the other side without provocation would launch so many ICBM's, subs and ships knowing that we would have no option to launch as well? It would break our MAD Treaty (Mutually Assured Destruction) not to mention the end of the world as we know it.

A bit controversial at the time due to Tushingham's character having a relationship with a black man. One of a number of gritty films made around the same time, such as 'Saturday Night and Sunday Morning', 'This Sporting Life' and 'Room at the Top'. Robert Stephens co-starred, and he's an actor I really like. -

I would love to see this film again. BBC 2 last shown it in August 1994. I am certain that if it had been made in colour, it would have been shown a few more times since.I've everything I need to keep me satisfied
