Yes he did. For some reason, I often think that regarding Bob Holness, I assumed that some people would have put the James Bond on the radio acting thing in the same category as the Baker Street saxophone one. I blame Stuart Maconie myself - of course the American version of Blockbusters was presented by a Bill Rafferty - that is what he was probably confusing it with. I don't think that it is cryptic. Anyway, back on topic...

I wonder if we will ever see a Jane Bond in the future? There will be a female Doctor Who so...

Maybe Jane bond could run parallel with James bond but could never replace him, that would be silly

        Courtesy of wikipedia.....Radio career
In 1955, he received his first job as a radio presenter and, a year later, became the second actor to portray James Bond (after Barry Nelson in the 1954 TV special Casino Royale) in a radio production of Moonraker for the SABC's Springbok Radio.[2][3][5]

Jane ran parallel with Tarzan if you know what I mean.

On a tangent, there is a sports presenter on the BBC called James Bond - that is his real name. I assume that his name pre-dates the films.

Seems Barbara brocolli wanted to see the series take a swerve, since she took the reigns from Cubby the series has lost a lot of the silliness

No doubt the next James Bond will be a female.

Really?...You have no doubt with a name like James (traditionally a mans name)

We are in an age of equal rights - I don't have any problem at all having a woman doing a job that is traditionally a man's. It is nice that we have a female Prime Minister (regarding gender rather than political status as a point there); a female Metropolitan Police Commissioner, and so on. James will become Jane or June as a result if we did have a female Bond, but I bet that the character will be just as successful as her male counterpart.

Yes but Bond already has a 56 year history as a man, how on earth does he suddenly change gender?...The notion of a JAMES bond female equivalent is an interesting one but you surely can't be suggesting that James suddenly becomes June?

Well, she can be a different character to James - she could be his wife or sister - Supergirl was a different character to Superman as they were cousins, and She Ra was He-Man's twin sister. She would be a different person.

I suppose that as she was the BBC's Royal Correspondent, it might be a case of On Her Majesty's Secret Service?
