    I think a violent children's toy movie works better with a girl as the toy's owner. Childs Play's so-called twist about the gender of Chucky's owner fell flat precisely *because* of what late eighties society thought little boys were like.

    Candace "Candy" Hutson was eleven years old when she filmed Dolly Dearest.

    Her character is meant to be SEVEN. I guess they felt a real seven-year-old actress couldn’t handle the scenes where the ancient demon that is inhabiting the little girl’s doll has decided that the body of the little girl herself is far better for its schemes.
