  • Possibly Terrible USA 80s ROMCOM

I always think of MANNEQUIN when I recall this possibly trashy bargain bin movie. I think it "came off the back of it."

Man: loser. Woman: less of a loser. Builds the confidence of loser. They get together...possibly.

Neither played by stars you can name. Never in anything big again or before. But the lady, blonde and thin and quirky, may have been. She looks like Rosanna Arquette and Phoebe from FRIENDS merged. THERE MAY HAVE BEEN SOMETHING MAGICAL ABOUT HER. Maybe an angel? No. It's not SPLASH. if you are thinking in that level of success you've missed the plot. This film was famous for five seconds.

The guy looks like a chunkier version of the straight act in the tv show PERFECT STRANGERS. Mark Linn-Baker. But uglier. Also like Robert Wuhl. He has horrible long curling hair, light brown and a constant sad, resigned face on him. That smile that is really a frown.

It's an odd coupling because the woman is a bit more good looking. It probably all takes place in New York. I cannot recall a single scene from the film. I may have not even seen the film!

But the idea that this average looking, chunky guy could get an ounce of love in his awful life, obsesses me.

I must exorcise this engram. My own personal view of the spacetime continuum depends on it.

It's not the film, BUT, that might be better.

Gotta see that. Well done, you found a worse film than I was recalling.

                  Big Man on Campus (1989)

(aka, The Hunchback Hairball of L.A.)

I’m ignoring the plot slightly and concentrating more on your description of the bloke this time:

                  Allan Katz: chunky face, horrible long light-brown/reddish curly hair;

                  Melora Hardin: thin quirky blonde.

She helps rehabilitate him and he tries to win her. An obscure film that basically disappeared straight onto video.

They didn’t get together. You can’t remember if they did or not as you openly said you might not have even watched the film.

netherless, If this isn’t it, then tell me whether this bloke is getting warmer visually.

Yeah. I'm wondering if I MIGHT have noticed the hunchback. Not sure.

I can rule out any deformities and disabilities. Are those the politically correct terms? Not being terrified I tend to not keep up with these things.

                      Haha.

Scraping the barrel now. I thought you might have remembered the hunchback

“Disability” might pass with current terminology. I’m not quite sure. The last 20 years has been a woke-minefield. It all went wrong when they stopped calling the dude in Thomas The Tank Engine “The Fat Controller” and changed it to “Sir Topham Hatt” due to political incorrectness.

                      Wonders will never cease.
